Oven Roasted Ranch Potatoes

Over the weekend I made ranch potatoes in the oven. They were amazing. Surprisingly so, the kids really enjoy it. I have made them before and they are always a hit at the table. I have been making attempts at switching up how my family eats. Steering away from the fried foods, although it does taste good. Most children love French fries and mine are no exception. To switch things up, we made oven roasted ranch potatoes. Did I say that they were BOMB?!

Which Potatoes Are Best to Roast in the Oven

For this recipe, I used Yukon Gold potatoes because they are quite velvety and creamy when you cook them. It made for a hearty bite which is what I was going for. Other potatoes that can be good for roasting are fingerling potatoes, baby Dutch potatoes, and red skinned potatoes. These potatoes are considered waxy and can hold their shape while cooking. Perfect for roasting in the oven at high temperatures. In addition, these potatoes are good because they aren’t light and airy. They are very filling and will leave you satisfied after eating.

Yukon Gold Potatoes are Good for Roasting

To make the oven roasted ranch potatoes, I gathered 7-9 Yukon gold potatoes. They were medium sized, definitely smaller than my fist. Be sure to rinse them and pat them dry. Oil has to go on them so they can crisp in the oven and we know oil and water don’t mix. Slice them in half and then slice each half of the potato in thirds. Easy Peasy.

You want to put the potatoes in a bowl, or you really could just leave it on the cookie sheet. Pour about 3 tablespoons over the potatoes. Sprinkle the seasoning on the potatoes and then toss. You are going to want all of the potatoes to be evenly coated. It smells amazing. I promise.

  1. Rinse the potatoes and slice. Pat dry.
  2. In a bowl or on the pan, drizzle oil on potatoes.
  3. Sprinkle the dry ranch mix and Cajun seasoning on the potatoes and toss until coated evenly.
  4. Bake at 425 degrees for 45 minutes. Tossing at the 25 minute mark. Enjoy.

The potatoes will bake for approximately 45 minutes. How be it ever, you want to toss and flip them while they are cooking. You don’t want only one side to brown.
